Celebrating Our 1st Newsletter

We are so excited to be publishing our first newsletter. JAM Educational Consulting is an educational consulting business formed through the passion of two experienced educators whose main goal is to ensure success for our greatest resource, our children.

JAM Educational Consulting specializes in Leadership Development, School Culture and Recruiting Specialized Professional Staff. We have a comprehensive website (jamconsulting.ca) outlining our services but will also work with school divisions to create individualized supports and services.

Start Right

The key to creating the pathway to a successful year is to ensure coherence amongst all staff in relation to your division's vision, purpose and core values. One strategy we used was to host individual meetings with all of our division and school leaders. We framed these conversations as a "Start, Stop, Continue" to provide an opportunity for them to share ideas in correlation with our vision, purpose and core values as to what they felt needed to be started, stopped or continued.

We compiled their ideas and thoughts and shared them back through a visual of how they would be incorporated into our vision and purpose. As a result we saw engagement, ownership, a willingness to share best practices and to do the work required to move the division forward.

Reflections from a School Principal

Principal Academy has been an extremely valuable learning, networking and collaborating opportunity.

Principal Academy has been an extremely valuable learning, networking and collaborating opportunity in Battle River School Division. As school-based leaders we were challenged to enhance our instructional leadership and shift our mindsets: from being a system of schools to a school system; from managing schools to purposefully leading; from feedback to meaningful conversations about teaching practice. This was achieved by engaging school principals in a variety of rich learning experiences and collaboration opportunities including: book studies, collaborating on emergent topics, journaling and reflection on personal practice, investigating classroom walkthroughs/supervision, examining and analyzing data, and sharing best practices. Participating in Principal Academy has enhanced my personal leadership practice and the quality of school based leadership practice in our school division.

Leading Learners

"Leadership is not a license to do less. Leadership is a responsibility to do more." — Simon Sinek

We believe leaders aren't born, they are developed. Through our work using intentional, individualized support we saw leaders flourish. Leadership development is not a one size fits all endeavour. Through building strong, trusting relationships we witnessed vulnerability and a willingness to learn and take risks.

Leadership Academies

Academies began with team building, general researched based learning activities and individualized support opportunities. This individual support was also provided in schools through regular school visits by division leaders.
